every now and then, my mom goes into major super mom mode and likes to tell me i don't look well.
today, she peered concernedly at my face and began fretting. "what happened? you look so white. why aren't you eating?"
never mind the fact that i have, indeed, consistently been eating.
*rolling eyes*
i do know i look a rather whiter shade of pale, though. i noticed it myself these past couple of days. i usually don't need to wear much blush because, even with this pale winter skin still on me, i still have natural color in my face. but i've had to add extra dabs of my paula dorf ecstasy-colored blush the past couple of days because the natural color's just not there lately.
i guess i'm still feeling not feeling too hot.
and i think a part of it does stem from exhaustion. i seriously have got to adjust my sleeping schedule! and damn it, i have a race coming up in less than a month! i'm going to have to learn how to be like waitress, jd, and get myself out of bed before the break of dawn just to hit the gym before work! i sure don't have the time or energy to run when i get home in the evenings -- i'm just so whupped.
and okay, maybe i'm not eating very well lately. :-P but shh! don't tell my mom!
i'm still in the honeymoon phase at work -- wherein i'm loved by anyone and everyone i've met thus far and everything i say and do is regarded as manna from heaven.
seriously, it's nice!
a good chunk of the credit for my work, though, comes from all the bully-bosses i've had. they scared the shit out of me, treated me like crap, belittled me, nearly gave me a nervous breakdown a number of times -- but even as much as i loathed them, i sucked it up for as long as i could and learned how to put forth the kind of work-products they wanted. and despite their overbearing 'tudes, they really did know what they were doing. so i'm grateful to all those bitches and bastards i used to work for.
i'm just waiting for the day i jinx it all, though. i'm sure it's just around the corner -- and then everything i touch will turn to shit.
:-P
but in the meantime, it really is still going well, and everyone really has embraced me with open arms. it's great! and because they're so generous, all that stuff i was worried and stressed out about yesterday -- having to learn how to freakin' conduct the whole hiring process for an office full of vacancies -- is actually a bit more clearer today. :-T
i did meet a new lady today. she's older -- in her fifties, maybe sixties -- short red hair. poor lady -- apparently she was diagnosed with throat cancer a few years ago, and now she speaks through a voice box. there is a sort of gauze covering at her throat, and she sticks this machine thingy that has a protracted tube into her mouth so that she can speak, and a mechanized voice then issues from the machine.
at first, i tried not to stare at the voice box. but within five minutes, i really did begin forgetting it was there. the lady has a freakin' wicked sense of humor, and it would crack me up to no end to hear her spout off flippant jokes that i would not expect of a lady of her age and appearance to say, in this disembodied robotic voicec. and she even started talking shit, too! it really tickled me. what she did, every time she talked shit, was remove the voice box thing-a-ma-jiggy from her mouth so that no one else could hear and then just voicelessly mouth cuss words or call someone an ass, and i would just start laughing.
funniest thing ever!
and she was just so kind. she knows this personnel crap can be complicated for someone who hasn't been exposed to the intricacies before -- and i love working with her. just a grandmotherly soul. :)
a new girl started at the office this week on monday. she was hired to fill the spot that i was supposed to have filled until i got swung over to the chief's side.
this new girl is not liked. my laotian co-worker has to share an office with her, and she said, no more than fifteen minutes after the girl started working there, that she couldn't stand her.
i can see how there'd be a personality conflict. they both have to share an office together. the laotian girl is out-going, loves talking, is fun-loving -- the other girl is quiet, stoic, not very strong interpersonal skills. but what they both have in common is skills in passive-aggressive warfare. neither girl is bending.
seriously, it just makes me glad to have my own spot. :-T when the laotian girl tells me what's going on in that office and how irked she is by the new girl, i laugh my ass off. but would i ever trade spots with either of them, even if i could?
hell no!
anyhow, 10 pm is my new bed-time. cannot keep my eyes open anymore. . . .

Hope you get to feeling better. It would be funny watching the older woman cuss in silence. Good theme music.
