2. start new assignment with another boss
my new boss is a toweringly tall man. he cuts an imposing figure. i haven't formed any impressions of him yet. i'd seen him around, in and out of the executive office; i know he's got a fairly important position. i met him yesterday during a brief, introductory meeting, and he gave me a short summary of the stuff we'll be working on together. he says we're not going to have a typical boss-employee relationship; we're going to be a team.
thanks to the meeting, i do now understand what i've been hired to do. all this stuff i've been doing so far have been kind of in-between duties until it was time to start working for him. once i get underway working for this new boss, i'll be dealing with high level stuff and sensitive materials. and it's just going to be really busy and fast-paced, as i understand it. i think i'm kinda being set up to replace the guy i'll be working for. the scope of his work has a far reach, but he's the only one at the office with the unique kind of knowledge and insight over a broad number of important things. so i'll be trained to be his second, his right-hand person.
what does this mean?
well, among other things, it means i might end up having even less time and energy to study for the damned bar.
*worried, furrowed brow*
and it also means that i think they're breeding me to remain here on a long-term basis so that i can ultimate take over my soon-to-be boss' areas of expertise.
