bees to pollen

another great run tonight. seriously, i can't tout how great running is making me feel lately. i get home so haggard and ill-tempered, but i make a point to just force myself to go out the door in the evening and run. and within minutes, i'm usually glad i do. all the cares of the day end up evaporating into the air.

do i miss smoking? actually . . . no. not a single bit. :) running is my new addiction. who knew that a lazy ass like me would eventually take to it, like a bee to pollen?

speaking of bees to pollen, i finally got my hands on the cute dress that caught my eye the other day.

i like it because it's a fairly simple dress -- but it fits great. jcrew always has made clothes that fit me pretty well. :) what's most satisfying is that it just felt nice to actually be able to splurge on a cute dress without having to worry about the price tag. :-T

i also found a great pair of satiny peep-toe heels to go with it, too. and it's great that the dress is just a simple solid color; it's going to be my template, and i'll try to dig through my accessories to add some pizazz to it. but seriously, it's just been so long since i had any reason to really get all dolled up -- so i just kinda wanna take advantage and go all out this weekend.

i printed out some of my old black letter law outlines today. i refuse to dig up the old ones i printed out for the last bar; i want to have fresh copies of everything. i rifled through the outlines a bit. but i have to take it slow. just re-reading all that crap about subject matter jurisdiction and federal question made me want to start snoozing.

but there's just been a lot of down-time at work lately. my boss is out in the field for most, if not all, of this week. so i figure i ought to do something productive to fill in the time.

i also went out and voted today. nothing major going on that i needed to vote for, except for a few local positions and also a couple of propositions -- props 98 and 99, both of which are centered around the government's eminent domain powers. i popped on over to a local elementary school to vote after work, at about 5:30 p.m. i was only the 80th person to come in that day to vote. it was a bit pathetic -- but a huge turn-out actually hadn't been expected.

i am proud to say that, in regards to these propositions, i voted exactly the opposite of what a guest blogger on michelle malkin's blog recommended this morning. so that has me convinced that i voted correctly. :)

speaking of michelle malkin, there's seriously something wrong with her. my mom says malkin even looks evil. i don't want to criticize a fellow riotous azngirl; crazy azngirls like us do need to stick together. but really, the hatred that emanates out of her just perplexes me sometimes .

malkin has had at least a couple of skirmishes (like, here and here) with a couple of girls at one of my favorite blogs ever, which i devoutly check up on at least a couple of times a day, disgrasian. and i have to say that if disgrasian's posse ever hit the streets against malkin's, a la sharks versus jets in westside story, i know whose team i want to be on and do a snarling dance-off for: disgrasian.

jen and diane. seriously, they rock.

and while on the subject of favorite blogs, one blog that i repeatedly take great interest and joy in reading is actually the blog of former nba head coach eric musselman. his last nba gig was with my hometown team. he only lasted a season here, but he endured a lot of criticism because of how poorly that season went and his inability to truly get the respect of all of the players.

musselman posts at least several times a day, and of course, the theme of his blog centers around basketball, coaching, and other sports. there is just a really great tone about his posts. they are usually only a few paragraphs long, but they contain a wealth of really wise insights that pertain to stuff outside of sports, too. i just really take great pleasure in reading his writing -- and i always come away from his blog feeling just a bit more enlightened.

you know, i often end up feeling rather disembodied from people and from society in general. so it's great to just find other people in the world who are on the same wave-length as me and be able to connect with their ideas and perspectives.
